Deal FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about the Groupon Deal of 4/28/2011

Q. Are these “full tastings” or some cheapened version?

A. The Groupon allows two people to visit 5 wineries. At each winery, they will each receive a full wine tasting. The tastings are FULL (regular price) tastings at all of the wineries.

Q. How many glasses do I get to take home?

A. You get two glasses from each winery – so a total of 10 wine glasses!

Q. Do I have to visit all 5 wineries in one day, or can I come back to finish the trail later?

A. It wouldn’t even be safe to visit all 5 in one day, that’s a lot of wine! You can use the Groupon one time at each location until it expires on September 30th.

Q. Do I need reservations?

A. No reservations are required.

Q. When can I visit? When are the wineries open?

A. You may visit at any time during regular business hours. Please check the Winery pages for winery business hours.

Q. Are the wineries pet friendly? Do you allow children?

A. Yes and yes, but please check individual winery pages for specific policies.

Q. In what order should I visit the wineries?

A. Any order you like! It really depends on where you plan to have lunch or dinner, and where you want to end up. Each winery is unique, and has something different to offer – but all of them have great wine.

Q. How much wine will I be drinking?

A. Each winery pours controlled amounts of their wines for tasting, and each offers “dump bins” for excess wine that you don’t care to consume. However, after tasting at several wineries (especially if you stay to enjoy an extra glass or bottle,)  it is easy to unwittingly consume alcohol above the legal limit. We recommend you employ a designated driver or limit your wine consumption accordingly. Each wine tasting is the equivalent of about a glass of wine. Please be aware that Virginia state law prohibits the pouring or sale of alcohol to intoxicated individuals. If you’re above the legal limit or visibly intoxicated, it is illegal to pour or sell you wine!

Q. Should I bring food?

A. Each winery offers different food or snack options, and you are welcome to bring your own picnic. Please check individual winery pages for more information. But the area is also surrounded by some great local restaurants, so be sure to ask your server for recommendations.

Q. How long will it take me to get to the area?

A. The driving time from DC to the closest winery is about an hour, and each winery is within 15 miles of the next. The wineries are located on country roads though, so please drive with caution, and enjoy the sceneryit’s beautiful out here!
